Beef Stir Fry

Stir Fry with beef with onions and peppers

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb flank steak sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium onion or 1 large shallot
  • 1 medium jalapeno pepper, minced
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 Tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 Tablespoons rice vinegar

Equipment

  • 1 12 inch frypan
  • 1 spatula for flipping peppers in fry pan
  • 1 Small Bowl
  • 1 Set of measuring spoons
  • 1 set of measuring cups
  • 1 Kitchen knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 medium bowl
  • 1 tongs for turning beef
  • 1 rubber spatula for mixing sauce.

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl add hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, cumin and smoked paprika and mix well. set aside.
  2. Cut up peppers and onions, set aside.
  3. Cut the beef into slim pieces about 1/4 inch wide.
  4. Heat oil in a 12 inch frypan over medium-high heat add beef. Sauté until brown on both sides.
  5. Don't over crowd the pan. This ensures the pan stays hot. You need heat to ensure browning.
  6. Remove beef from the pan after browning.
  7. Deglaze the frypan with the bell peppers. about 5 minutes. Scrape the bottom of the pan to loosen brown bits. Add shallots and jalapeno saute for another 2 minutes.
  8. Reintroduce the beef and add the sauce.
  9. Stir over heat for a minute. Serve hot.
