Who we are
Edible Eats is a personal food and recipe blog written by Ed Boettcher. This page explains, in plain language, what information the site collects when you visit, how it is used, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, please reach out through our Contact page.
What we collect
Comments
When you leave a comment on a recipe, we collect the name, email address, and any information you type into the comment box. Your email is not published. We also record your IP address and browser information, which helps us catch spam and keep the comment section usable for everyone.
Newsletter
If you sign up for new recipes by email, we collect the email address you enter. Our newsletter is handled by MailerLite, which stores your email so we can send you recipe updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email, and that removes you from the list.
Contact form
If you send a message through the Contact page, we receive the name, email, and message you provide so we can reply to you.
Cookies & basic analytics
Like most websites, Edible Eats uses small files called cookies. If you leave a comment you can choose to save your name and email in a cookie so you do not have to type them again next time. We may also use basic, privacy-friendly analytics to understand which recipes are popular (for example, how many people viewed a page) — this does not identify you personally. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Affiliate links & Amazon Associates
Some posts contain affiliate links, mainly to products on Amazon. Edible Eats is a participant in the Amazon Associates program, which means we may earn a small commission when you buy something through one of these links — at no extra cost to you. When you click an affiliate link, Amazon may set its own cookie to track the purchase so the commission is credited correctly. You can read more on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Third parties we rely on
- Amazon Associates — affiliate links and purchase tracking.
- Pinterest — the “Save”/Pin buttons on recipe images let you save recipes to your Pinterest boards; Pinterest may collect information when you use them.
- MailerLite — stores your email address and sends the newsletter you subscribed to.
- Wordfence — a security service that helps protect the site from spam and malicious traffic; it may process visitor IP addresses for that purpose.
Each of these companies has its own privacy policy that governs how it handles your information.
How long we keep your information
Comments and their details are kept so we can recognize follow-up comments. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages sent through the contact form are kept as long as needed to answer you.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, ask us to delete a comment you left, or ask what personal information we hold about you and request that we remove it. Just get in touch through the Contact page.
Children
Edible Eats is a general-audience cooking blog and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
As the site grows we may update this policy. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top of the page.
