
Beef stir fry is a quick easy meal for your dinner table. A traditional Chinese dish which can enhance your recipe collection. While many use a combination of oyster sauce and soy sauce I chose to adjust a hoisin sauce with other spices. This gives the dish it’s own flavor profile. If your not sure about the flavors, try mixing up the sauce first and taste it. Who knows it might be your new favorite!
Prep work makes cooking easy. All you need to do is prep the individual parts first. Cut the veggies and place them in separate bowls. Prep the sauce and have it in it’s own bowl. Prep the meat and have it ready to go.
When it comes time to cook. everything is ready. Now all you have to do is cook… Serve over white rice.

- In a small bowl add hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, cumin and smoked paprika and mix well. set aside.

- Cut up peppers and onions, set aside.

- Cut the beef into slim pieces about 1/4 inch wide.

- Heat oil in a 12 inch frypan over medium-high heat add beef. Sauté until brown on both sides.

- Remove beef from the pan after browning.
- Deglaze the frypan with the bell peppers. about 5 minutes. Scrape the bottom of the pan to loosen brown bits. Add shallots and jalapeno saute for another 2 minutes.

- Reintroduce the beef and add the sauce.

- Stir over heat for a minute. Serve hot.

Don't over crowd the pan. This ensures the pan stays hot. You need heat to ensure browning.
