If you’re like me, a good cream cheese frosting is the best way to compliment carrot cake and red velvet cake. This cream cheese and yogurt frosting recipe is a little different because it adds yogurt to the recipe. This will make the recipe a little lighter and have less fat. The yogurt also has the ability to smooth out the frosting and helps the ingredients blend together.
Can you add yogurt to a cream cheese frosting? The answer is YES!
How do I prevent lumps in my frosting?
There are two ways this recipe remains smooth. The first way is adding yogurt to the cream cheese frosting. The second way is by adding a liquid sugar…honey! Honey increases the amount of liquid in the frosting and helps the ingredients blend well. Don’t forget to set the cream cheese out for 30 minutes to an hour to warm up to room temp before mixing. This helps the cream cheese blend well with the other ingredients.
How do I know how much frosting to make?
For this recipe if you make the full recipe you will have enough frosting for a 9 inch round cake divided and frosted in the middle and top. If one is making cupcakes or muffins, all you need to do is to half the recipe and you will have plenty of frosting.
