Rice Cooker Rice With Herbs and Broccoli

An easy and tasty herb rice with broccoli recipe can be made easily at home
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings: 4 people
Course: Dinner, Lunch, Rice, Side Dish
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups Rice
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Stock
  • 1 tsp Thyme
  • 1 tsp Fresh Dill
  • 1 dash Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 3/4 cup water

Equipment

  • 1 Rice Cooker
  • 1 Set of measuring spoons
  • 1 set of measuring cups
  • 1 Kitchen knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 spatula

Method

  1. Measure the rice and wash the rice at least three times in cold water. Drain excess water.
  2. Cut up Fresh Dill. set aside.
  3. Cut up Broccoli and set aside.
  4. Place the rice into the bowl for cooking the rice in. Add Vegetable stock.
  5. Add Dill, Thyme, Salt, Pepper, and water.
  6. When adding water to the rice in the bowl, the water + Vegetable stock should be about 3/8 higher that the level of the rice.
  7. Place the lid on top of the rice cooker and turn on.
  8. When you notice that the water has started to simmer, note the time. In 3 or so minutes place the cut Broccoli on top of the rice. The Broccoli will cook at the same time as the rice.
  9. The rice will cook for about 16-18 minutes. After the light has gone off, let the rice rest for 5-10 minutes. This helps the rice absorb more water, and become fluffy.
  10. In the photo you will see a glass of water (1-2) ounces. I always have this ready in case I did not add enough liquid in the beginning and the rice starts to sizzle. If this happens, just open the lid and toss in the water quickly and shut the lid. This will save the rice. No Problem. Enjoy!
